Hello Fifth Grade Families - We can't believe the end of school is in sight and we wanted to share some upcoming dates with you. See below:
DISTRICT DARE POOL PARTY: Tuesday, May 28th, 11:30am - 3pm (Rain date: Monday, June 3)** PLEASE NOTE REVISED DATE!!!
All elementary schools come together at the Summit Family Aquatic Center to celebrate the end of the school year and the entrance into middle school. This is teacher-chaperoned but we will need many fingerprinted parent drivers. Flyer attached.
5th GRADE STUDENT SOCIAL: Wednesday, June 5th 9:30am until 2:45pm (Rain date: Monday, June 10th)
We need many fingerprinted drivers/chaperones for this event - please look out for sign-up genius. Special thanks to our 5th Grade Student Social Committee: Rachel Schwartz, Nicki James, Marianela Telechanski and Vineeta Bhatnagar.
DARE GRADUATION: Monday, June 10, 7pm at SHS
Throughout the year, students attend a 6-session drug abuse resistance education program run by the Summit Police Department which culminates in an evening graduation ceremony at Summit High School on June 10, which parents attend with their child. Ice cream social subsequently. Students wear Dare T-Shirts. Flyer attached.
CEREMONY & RECEPTION: Thursday, June 13, 9am at L-H Gym (or last FULL day of school)
This event is for all 5th graders and their families. It will include Memories Through Music move-up ceremony, Student Graduation, a 5th Grade Concert and a casual reception on the blacktop immediately following. The children will be provided t-shirts (blue shirt with white lettering) to wear to the ceremony. We have the t-shirts already (thank you, Lisa Hatch!) and will give them to the children the day before the ceremony. Please pair nice shorts or bottoms with the graduation shirt. In the event of inclement weather the reception will be moved indoors. The children will be returning to class following the reception (approximately 11:15am). 5th Grade Clap-In, Friday, June 14th - 8:15am (or last day of school)
All fifth grade students, parents, teachers, and Mr. Carlin will meet on the blacktop behind the school at 8:00am. At 8:15am, Mr. Carlin, teachers, and parents will begin walking the students around the building at which time the entire school, former teachers included, will clap the 5th Graders in for their last day! The students will be given graduation caps to wear and will be asked to wear their graduation t-shirts again on this day.
Last Day of School/Yearbook Signing Party: Friday, June 14 around 11am at L-H (or last day of school)
After attending the Move Up Assembly (parents do not attend), the fifth graders will gather for one final party to sign yearbooks and celebrate the last day of school. Special Thanks to the Yearbook Chairs: Elizabeth Jois and Nicki James and Carla Edmiston, Committee Chair as well as the Yearbook Signing Party Chairs: Katie Gillespie and Maria Spaulding.
